When one thinks about the best beaches in the world, probably Hawaii comes to mind, maybe California or Florida, Tahiti, Fiji, and the Greek Isles. The surprising thing for many is that Texas has some amazing beaches. The horrible BP oil spill did its damage to the Texan beaches in 2010. Thankfully, the damage, which affected the beaches in Texas, has now for the most part passed. The ocean still suffers, but the beaches in Texas are now more pristine than before, due to the massive cleanup efforts after the BP 2010 oil spill.
If you decide to live in the Houston Metropolitan area you will be about an hour’s drive away from very nice beaches in Galveston. Just hop on the I-45 and it takes you directly there.
By car or by yacht?
If you want to go to the beaches in Corpus Christi, this is about a 4-hour drive by car. The alternative from Houston is to have a sailboat or a power yacht docked near Houston on the waterways that connect to the Trinity Bay.
By boat, you can make your leisurely way down the coast of Texas stopping at any beaches you see that attract you. Many of the nicest remote beaches have no access except by boat, so you may well find yourself on a beautiful secluded beach that seems to be reserved just for you.
It is possible to buy a vacation home on the coast and have your yacht moored right in front of the house. Consider places like Channelview, Lynchburg, or Morgan’s Point if you still want to be near Houston.
All of those vacation homes are within one hour’s driving time. This is important because it will encourage you to make good use of the vacation home. Moreover, who needs more than one hour of the kids screaming in the back seat on the way to get there? You can also rent out your vacation home for a weekend price during the time when you are not able to use it and this will help offset the expenses of having it.
Whether you decide to take the family and hop in an SUV for a short drive to the beach or take a cruise on your magnificent power yacht, you will have a great time.
The Top Beaches in Texas
Here are the best beaches as noted by Only in Your State:
• Boca Chica
• Crystal Beach
• Galveston Island
• Mustang Island
• Padre Island
• Port Aransas
• Rockport Beach
• South Padre Island
The reason why we made this blog post in the dead of winter, is because winters in Texas can be very cold and you need to think about the upcoming spring and then summer when the beaches in Texas are so inviting to get through the colder times.
Summary
Texas is a very large state. It has almost anything anyone could want and plenty of room. The big cities like Houston are vibrant. The economy is booming and you can still have a nice home in Houston and a vacation home getaway on the beach for the most enjoyment with your family.
